Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia has announced the roll out of the Bigs in Blue program in Richland and Lexington counties.

Bigs in Blue is a one-to-one mentoring program that connects youth with law enforcement in communities throughout our nation, building strong, trusting, and lasting relationships. These relationships can help build stronger bonds between law enforcement and the families they serve.

“The Bigs in Blue program is a chance to connect local law enforcement with the children and families that we both serve,” said Amanda Nemenz, President and CEO. “While this program provides an opportunity to bridge communication gaps and mentor youth, it also provides the chance for our ‘Bigs’ and ‘Littles’ to better understand and appreciate each other’s roles and personal challenges.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia is currently working to enroll applicants from the Columbia Police and Fire Department and are looking for other interested members with a law enforcement or firefighter profession to join the program as a Big Brother or Big Sister.
