Jim Crosland to step down as Cayce city manager

Jim Crosland, who began his administrative role less than six months ago, has decided to retire from his job as Cayce city manager. According to a press release his last day in that position will be on August 8.

Crosland began as City Manager in December of 2024 after Tracy Hegler left the position after nearly six years in what the city called a ‘mutually agreed voluntary separation’. Crosland has been with the city since 1998 serving in all roles of law enforcement for the city and then as assistant director of the police department.

Crosland was well liked and heralded by his council. “This job is his as long as he would like to have it,” said Councilman Tim James. “He did wonders for the town of Cayce in just a few months than most do in years at the job.”

Crosland said in a statement to city council members that “I believe we have set a firm foundation for moving forward with a concentration in economic development, code compliance procedures, implementing new employee incentives and creating wonderful partnerships with our citizens and commercial partners.”

Crosland has agreed to help Cayce find the right person to serve as City Manager.
