Get ready for a day of creativity, competition, and community fun! West Columbia’s Kinetic Derby Day returns Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. along State and Meeting Streets—and it’s completely free to attend.
The action-packed day kicks off with the Kinetic Sculpture Parade, where teams and individuals will roll through in costumes and creations inspired by this year’s theme: Fantasy Worlds. Expect dragons, wizards, space explorers, and maybe even a superhero or two!
Highlights of the Day:
- Kinetic Sculpture Parade – Starts the festivities with wildly imaginative costumes and contraptions
- Soapbox Racing – Begins at 11:30 a.m. on Meeting Street; cheer on local teams as they race their handmade cars
- iMAGINE STEAM Festival – State Street turns into a hands-on science, tech, engineering, arts, and math wonderland
- The Kids’ Zone – Packed with a giant slide, ferris wheel, and creative play stations
- Food Truck Rally – A delicious mix of local eats
- Chalk Artists – Live street art in progress all day
- Meeting Street Artisan Market – Unique vendors from across the region
