USC Board Chairman speaks at Chamber Meeting

Thad Westbrook, Chairman of the University of South Carolina Board of Directors, was the guest speaker at the Greater Cayce – West Columbia Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, November 22.

This was the last CWC Chamber Breakfast Meeting for the year and CEO/President. Tim James, gave a review of the past year highlighting the chambers accreditation, launching of the CWC Business Watch with local law enforcement and a huge thanks to the board of directors, ambassadors, advisory committee and members of the Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was sponsored by Founders Federal Credit Union.

Local businessman and law enforcement were in attendance at the Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce November Breakfast Meeting. left to right – Mike Bediger of Lexington Medical Center, President CEO Lexington Medical Center Todd Augsburger, Senator Nikki Setzler, Richard Mcyntire of First Reliance Bank, USC Chairman of the Board Thad Westbrook, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, CWC CEO Tim James and Cayce Police Chief Chris Cowan. 

Westbrook spoke on the recent accomplishments at the university and the impact USC has on the economy of the state. USC holds in the top 10% graduation rate and awarded 12,500 degrees during the 2021-22 year. It contributes $6.2 billion statewide and has created 63,000 jobs.
