Brickhouse Gourmet Coffee and Tea Company officially opened its doors at its new location at 725 Meeting Street in West Columbia. The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce sponsored the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was attended by a large crowd.
West Columbia City Councilman Joseph Dickey described Brickhouse as the neighborhood coffee shop, noting the strong community turnout for the celebration. “It looks like the whole neighborhood showed up,” Dickey remarked, adding that the shop, owned by Akera and Alexis Sellers, offers the best coffee in town and is a welcome addition to the growing business district of West Columbia.
Akera Sellers, originally from New York City, shared that he had initially considered opening his shop in Atlanta but is grateful he chose West Columbia instead. “West Columbia is a loving community, and I’m thankful for all the support we’ve received,” he said.
C-WC Chamber President and CEO Tim James highlighted the importance of small businesses like Brickhouse to the area, emphasizing their role in the community’s growth and vibrancy.
George Grogan, owner of Always Original Bakery on Meeting Street, praised Brickhouse’s growth and the Sellers’ decision to establish their business in West Columbia. “They could have opened anywhere, but they chose West Columbia, and it’s been wonderful to watch them grow,” Grogan said.
The ribbon-cutting event was further enlivened by a two-piece band playing inside the shop, adding to the festive atmosphere.
