Capital City/Lake Murray Country Recognizes Tourism Advocates in the Region

In the past week, the Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board recognized the City of Cayce’s Mayor, Elise Partin, and Saluda County Chef and Restaurant Owner, Brandon Velie, for their hard work in advocating tourism in the region.

“Both of these individuals have gone above and beyond in making the region a top tourism destination. Mayor Partin has a long list of accomplishments but her effort in beautifying the city has really sparked visitors’ attention. Chef Brandon Velie takes the simple foods grown in Saluda County and surrounding areas and transforms them into dishes worthy of the finest tables in the state,” said Miriam Atria, President/CEO, of the regional tourism office.

Additional “Tourism Advocate of the Year Awards” were presented in August at the organization’s Annual Meeting. The awards went to Adam Huneau with Alodia’s Cucina Italiana, Michael Mayo with the Palmetto Outdoor Center, Scott Sawyer with the City of Newberry and Scott Middleton.

“Our regional tourism office is thankful for these community members who are advocates for tourism in the region. They are improving the economic vitality of the region and helping to make our region shine,” said Atria.
