The Airport football team will have a bye week to prepare for its Class 4A playoff opener.
Meanwhile, senior offensive lineman Dylan Barbrey already has post-season plans in Myrtle Beach. He was one of four players from West Columbia/Cayce schools selected to participate in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl on Dec. 9 at Doug Shaw Stadium.
Barbrey will play for the North team along with Gray Collegiate selections offensive lineman J.T. Sowell and defensive back Zai Offord. Offensive lineman Kamden Sox will play for the North team.
An Appalachian State commit along with Sowell, Barbrey has averaged an 89 percent grade this season and has not allowed a sack through nine games.
“He has been an awesome leader for our team by leading through example with his effort off the field,” Airport head coach Shane Fidler said. “Dylan has also been unselfish and has contributed to our team on defense and special teams as well when we’ve needed it.”
An All-State selection, Sowell has been a staple on the War Eagles’ offensive line. He has averaged a 90 percent grade in games the past two seasons, has 14 knockdown blocks and eight pancake blocks this season.
A South Carolina State commit, Offord is one of Gray Collegiate’s top receivers. His 70-yard touchdown catch was the lone score for the War Eagles in the 53-7 loss to IMG Academy.
On defense, he has tallied 35 tackles and two interceptions this season.
