Daniel 8
Daniel, as written about in the Old Testament book with his name, had a well-deserved reputation for being wise, diligent, loyal and faithful to his God. In these areas, and others, we can seek to imitate Daniel.
In the early days of Daniel’s captivity his three buddies stayed true to their faith in Jehovah God. They were thrown into a burning furnace where God rescued them. Daniel was required to pray only to the Emperor but continued his humble daily prayers to Jehovah God. He was rewarded with a night among hungry lions. God closed their mouths. Daniel and his young friends knew their God. They knew He could save them, but they did not know that He would save them.
Later in his life, Daniel was called upon to interpret dreams for one of the most vile kings who ever lived. Hitler followed in his footsteps many years later. Daniel was willing to die for his faith because his dream interpretation would not be popular with the emperor. In chapter eight of this little book we find Daniel making accurate prophecies about events that were almost 400 years in the future. I asked folks “what will the USA be like 400 years from today. No one seemed to have a good idea. No one can be prescient like our God. We live day by day trusting Him. We know that the creator of the universe can easily guide nations.
He sets up nations and allows them to crumble. The Roman Empire was one of the greatest of history, but it failed.
We used to sing a little chorus. “Dare to be a Daniel, dare to stand alone. Dare to have a purpose firm and dare to make it known. Are you a Daniel?
Happy following in Daniel’s steps.
