Mast Store celebrates Friends Day September 11

The Mast Store will celebrate Friends Day this Saturday, September 11, by choosing a nonprofit partner. This year, Mast will support the Palmetto Conservation Foundation (PCF). On Friends Day, Mast will give 10 percent of the day’s sales to PCF. Guests may also “round-up” their purchases between September 10 – 12 to benefit the organization.

Mast encourages employees and guests to volunteer their time with the Palmetto Conservation Foundation.

“We hope you’ll join us at the store on Friends Day,” said Lisa Cooper, president of Mast Store. “Palmetto Conservation Foundation contributes to our community in so many ways – adding to the quality of life of residents, enticing visitors to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us, telling our collective stories, and being a vital part of our local economic engine.”

Founded in 1989, the PCF’s mission is to foster an appreciation for South Carolina’s natural and cultural resources by providing opportunities for active recreation on the Palmetto Trail and other trail systems that can be enjoyed by all in South Carolina, regardless of gender, race, creed, age, or ability. The group’s most well-known project is the Palmetto Trail, which starts in the mountains of the Upstate and winds its way along creeks and streams, through pastures and swamps, through Revolutionary War battlefields, and through cities and small towns. Around 400 miles of the 500-mile-long trail are now complete, offering hiking and biking opportunities within a two hours’ drive of any part of the state.

Ryan Robinson, community relations manager for the Columbia store, encourages community involvement.

“One of the core principles of the Palmetto Conservation Foundation is everyone can help,” said Robinson. “Of course, monetary donations are critical, but there are also numerous opportunities to volunteer your time and energy.”
