Airport High School celebrated on Thursday as three exceptional athletes declared their intent to play sports at the collegiate level during a spirited signing ceremony. The event, attended by coaches, teammates, family members, and the school community, took place in Airport’s arena.
Dylan Barbrey, Football Standout, Chooses Appalachian State University: Dylan Barbrey, a standout football player, penned his commitment to Appalachian State University. Barbrey’s remarkable season included accolades such as All-Region honors, participation in the Touchstone Energy North/South All Star Bowl, and being named the SCFCA Palmetto Champions 4A Upper State Lineman of the Year. Having completed high school, Dylan is set to embark on his journey at Appalachian State in January.
Taylor Gooding and Camryn Turner, Cheerleaders, Join Presbyterian College: Airport cheerleaders Taylor Gooding and Camryn Turner made their college commitments to Presbyterian College. Gooding, recognized as Region Cheerleader of the Year, will contribute her talents to Presbyterian’s acrobatics and tumbling team, a sport offered by roughly 15 Division 1 schools. Turner, on the other hand, will join Presbyterian’s cheerleading team, showcasing her dedication and skills.
Airport Athletic Director Shane Fidler expressed immense pride in the achievements of Dylan, Taylor, and Camryn. “They have made their families and community proud by continuing the long tradition of Airport student-athletes competing at the Division 1 level. We look forward to following along as they start the next chapter in their lives.”
As these talented athletes transition to the collegiate level, the Airport High School community celebrates not only their athletic achievements but also the dedication and hard work that have brought them to this significant moment in their academic and athletic journeys. The signing ceremony serves as a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel both on and off the field.
