Northside Christian Season Ends

The historic boys’ basketball season for Northside Christian Academy came to an end Tuesday.

After advancing to the SCISA Class 3A quarterfinals for the first time in school history, the Crusaders fell 57-54 to Oakbrook Prep at the Sumter Civic Center.

Northside Christian Academy dropped to 0-6 all-time against the Knights, including a 60-39 loss in Spartanburg on Feb. 9 to end the regular season. It finished the season with an 18-6 record.

This past Saturday, the Crusaders routed Carolina Academy 72-50 in the opening round of the SCISA Class 3A playoffs at Wilson Hall. It was the first playoff win in school history for Northside Christian Academy.

Earlier last week, Northside Christian Academy head coach Peter Wilkinson was named region Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Guard Cade McNeil was named Region Player of the Year and teammates Sullie Crider, Hunter Dessausure and Dane Sundell were named to the All-Region team.

Northside Christian Academy girls’ basketball coach Jordan Leath was also named Coach of the Year in his first season. He had four Lady Crusaders named to the All-Region team – Natalie Walke, Campbell Childers, and Riah Beckwith.

The Northside Christian Academy girls lost 37-25 to Christian Academy in the opening round at Wilson Hall. It ended the season with a 14-9 record.
