Brookland-Cayce to face Dreher in televised game

Friday the 13th will be spent at the home of the Blue Devils on statewide television for Brookland-Cayce.

The Bearcats (5-2, 2-0) face Dreher (4-3, 2-0) in the Sonic Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week. The game can be seen on WACH 57 Channel 1250 on Spectrum and at www.wach.com.

The two teams are competing for a share of first place in Region 5-3A. They are in a three-way tie with undefeated Gilbert with two games left and each team faces the Indians over the next two weeks.

Brookland-Cayce is riding a 3-game winning streak. In last week’s 42-19 win over Lower Richland, quarterback Will Young rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass from Brogan Sox.

John Allen Mower remained perfect on PATs, now 40-40 on the season and is 2-3 on field goals.

It was the 81st career win at Brookland-Cayce for head coach Rusty Charpia.

Dreher enters the home contest having won two straight region games. It defeated Orangeburg-Wilkinson 28-14 at Memorial Stadium and are a win away from achieving its most wins since 2018.

The series is tied at 5-5-1 with Brookland-Cayce having won the last two meetings.
