The City of Cayce has appointed Herbert Blake as the new Chief of the Cayce Police Department. Blake, a seasoned law enforcement officer, currently serves as Chief Deputy of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office in Asheville, North Carolina. He will officially leave that position on September 30 and assume his new role in Cayce.
Blake brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as Police Chief in Hendersonville, North Carolina, for 13 years, and before that, as Chief of the Loris Police Department for seven years. A native of South Carolina, he began his law enforcement career as a police officer in the Town of Ridgeland.
Blake holds a Master’s Degree in Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. His extensive leadership training includes executive programs from the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration, Penn State University, Northwestern University, and the FBI. He is widely recognized as a leader in professional policing across the Carolinas.
“We are excited about our incoming Chief,” said Cayce Interim City Manager Jim Crosland. “Chief Blake’s experience and leadership reputation stood out to our selection committee. We look forward to him leading our police department and serving the citizens of Cayce.”
Blake and his wife, Linda, have been married for 37 years. They have five grown children and six grandchildren.
