East Point Academy Middle Campus Collects Over 300 Pounds in Canned Food Drive

Focusing on giving during the month of February, the East Point Academy Middle Campus Beta Club hosted a “Heart for Giving” carline canned food drive. Over 300 pounds for canned food was donated directly to Harvest Hope food bank. The innovative set up enabled students to collect the food while maintaining physical distance.

Beta Club planned each aspect of the project, from wrapping collection boxes, to delivering the donations. 8th grader Yohanna reflected on the project saying “…the experience was fun. We got to see where people take the food that gets donated. We ended up with 329 pounds of food that was donated to the school!”

Beta Club representatives, along with club sponsor, and teacher of the year Megan Nagle, transported the items to Harvest Hope and learned about the charity. Their event raised over 300 pounds of food. Head of School, Mark A. Bounds remarked on the event saying he is “…proud of these young philanthropists! They are modeling the “P” in our Panda Core Values by ‘Placing an emphasis on service to others’.”
