Holy Trinity Celebrates 50 years

Holy Trinity Lutheran Elementary School is inviting alumni and the community to join in its 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Events are scheduled over the three-day Memorial Day weekend to mark its 50th Anniversary.  Friday evening (May 26th) will be a fun night, including an ice cream sundae bar.  A Christian Education Seminar will be held Saturday morning (May 27th), followed by a taco pile-up meal.   Sunday morning (May 28th) begins with a 10:00 am Worship Service of thanksgiving and praise, followed by an agape meal and the actual anniversary celebration.   All events are free.

“I think it will be a great celebration,“ said Holy Trinity Lutheran Church chairman Glenn Oster. “Three generations of students will be reminiscing the fun times they have had as well as the quality education and the confidence God’s Word has given them in their lives.”

The school began in one room with three grades in 1973.  Ms. Marion Fitschen of Red Wing, MN, accepted Holy Trinity’s call to be the first teacher.  Since then, Holy Trinity has expanded to include all eight elementary grades as well as preschool and kindergarten.  Principal Joshua Ohlmann, speaking of the goal of our teachers and volunteers, said, “For 50 years Holy Trinity Lutheran School has worked to prepare students for life and for life eternal.”

As part of Holy Trinity’s celebration, a Christian Education seminar on Saturday (May 27th) morning will discuss many of the concerns that parents of elementary-aged school children are facing today.  “Not only do many parents have a concern about public education, said Oster, whose children and grandchildren attended Holy Trinity School, “but they want to ensure their children have a firm Christian foundation upon which they can rely when they face the temptations and difficulties of high school, college, and careers.”  One of the speakers at the seminar is Dr. Dan Schierenbeck, president of Immanuel Lutheran College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and also an alumnus of Holy Trinity.

Brittany Mayfield is part of a three-generation family who attended Holy Trinity, as well as her husband Thomas.  She summarizes the feeling of many former students, “Holy Trinity is much more than just a school – a place of education; it’s a place where generations of my family and many others have come to learn, grow, and connect with each other.  From its dedicated teachers to its commitment to quality Christian education and beautiful surroundings, Holy Trinity will, forevermore, hold a special place well within my heart.”
