Rhythm on the River concerts return to West Columbia Riverwalk (Page 211)

By Terry Ward

It was a beautiful evening on the Congaree River for the return of Rhythm on the River.

A full Riverwalk Amphitheater lost themselves in the Carolina Beach Music, Saturday, presented by The Sensational Epics. There have been very few of the Rhythm on the River concerts since 2019.

The concerts are from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater for the next four Saturdays. Next week (May 7) 48 Fables and The Water Kickers are playing. The last one this spring is May 28.

“You could not have asked for a better night for the return of Rhythm on the River,” said Tim James, president of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

“This is exactly what we wanted,” said Steve Cohen, Chamber Board Member and longtime Rhythm on the River volunteer. “There are children dancing to the music and so are the adults. It’s so good to have Rhythm on the River back.”

There was also a pause in the dancing to pay tribute to Cayce Police Officer Drew Barr who lost his life a week ago in the line of duty. The band sang “Glory Glory Hallelujah” in recognition of police officers and their sacrifice.
