River Bluff, GCA place in Top 10 of Carlisle Cup

By Thomas Grant Jr.

A second straight boys golf title propelled River Bluff to a Top 10 finish in this year’s Carlisle Cup.

Based on a points system to recognize overall athletic excellence by a school in its classification, the Carlisle Cup tabulates performances in 24 sporting events.

The Gators placed fourth in Class 5A Division I behind Wando, Dorman and archrival Lexington.

River Bluff AD Andrew Peckham was “Incredibly proud of the culture” being built at River Bluff and believed the program’s improvement from fifth last year to fourth showed its “success is sustainable.”

“These back-to-back elite finishes are a direct result of the relentless effort and dedication our student-athletes pour into their sports every single day,” Peckham said. “But it doesn’t happen without leadership. A huge thank you to our phenomenal coaching staff…their tactical expertise, exceptional ability to lead, and commitment to building genuine, trusting relationships with our players are the foundation of River Bluff High School Athletics.”

In Class 4A, Gray Collegiate Academy finished in fifth place in the Carlisle Cup rankings. The school was boosted by the softball team’s third straight title.
