West Columbia is ready to spread holiday cheer with a lineup of festive events for all ages. From tree lightings and artisan markets to parades and family movie nights, residents and visitors can enjoy a season full of holiday spirit.
Annual Christmas Tree Lighting
The holiday season officially kicks off with the 20th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 6, at 6:30 PM at City Hall Lawn, 200 N. 12th Street.
Attendees can enjoy holiday carols, hot chocolate, cookies, and a special Christmas message. Local students will read their award-winning “What Christmas Means to Me” essays, and student artwork will be on display at the Interactive Art Park’s Art on State wall.
The event will feature performances from the Busbee Creative Arts Academy Chorus, Northside Middle School Chorus, East Point Academy Cub Chorus, and Panda Performers. Dow Welsh of Holland Avenue Baptist Church will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, with a special appearance by Mrs. Claus.
Santa’s Mailbox Brings Christmas Magic
Children can write letters to Santa through December 16 for guaranteed replies before Christmas. Letters received after that date but before December 24 will still be delivered, though responses aren’t guaranteed. Parents are encouraged to assist younger children to ensure their writing is legible and include the child’s name, age, and return address.
Meeting Street Artisan Holiday Markets
Celebrate the season by shopping local at the Meeting Street Artisan Holiday Markets on December 7, 14, and 21 from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Interactive Art Park, 425 Meeting Street.
