The Cayce Fire Department is gearing up to host Save a Life Day on March 16, 2024, at Granby Gardens Park (1800 12th Street.) This innovative event aims to blend essential safety education, including CPR and basic first aid, with family-friendly festivities. The festivities will commence at 11:00 am and conclude at 2:00 pm.
The event promises a delightful kids’ area featuring a bounce house and an Easter Egg Hunt, ensuring there’s something for every family member. Attendees will have the opportunity to both learn and contribute to the community. The offerings include a community library, a gently used clothes closet, prescription drug take-back, and informative sessions on Narcan usage and CPR administration.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Cayce Fire Chief, Steven Bullard, shared, “Save a Life Day will be a fun event for the whole community! Our Cayce Firefighters are also excited to share life-saving techniques with our residents. The event will include raising awareness about something that we see too often: opioid overdose.”
In light of a concerning report from the Lexington County Coroner listing 126 opioid-related overdose deaths in 2022, Chief Bullard emphasized the department’s commitment to taking preventive steps against opioid-related drug overdoses.
The Cayce Fire Department extends heartfelt thanks to its partners who will contribute to the event’s success by raising awareness, sharing life-saving techniques, and making the day impactful yet enjoyable for all!
