City of Cayce Seeks New Chief of Police

Cayce, SC – The City of Cayce is announcing the opening for the position of Chief of Police for the Cayce Police Department.

Process:

The position of Chief of Police will be open for three weeks. At the conclusion of this period, the Cayce Human Resources staff will screen each applicant to ensure they meet all minimum requirements. Following the initial screening, a Board will be assembled for the initial interviews. This Board will consist of members of the Cayce City Council, Cayce staff, law enforcement leaders, and community and business leaders.

Position Description:

The Chief of Police administers and oversees all operations of the Police Department for the City of Cayce. This includes police, dispatch, animal control, and park rangers. The Chief supervises senior command staff and other personnel to ensure all departmental operations are maintained and implemented effectively. Additionally, the Chief ensures a positive and cooperative relationship between the department and the community it serves. The position requires performing related professional, supervisory, and administrative work as needed and reports to the City Manager/Assistant City Manager.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid state driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • SC Criminal Justice Class One Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Senior Leadership training (e.g., FBINA, CPM, or SPI).
  • SCCJA Basic Instructor Certification.
  • Community Oriented Policing Training and/or understanding the concepts.
  • Public speaking experience or training.
  • Diversity and De-escalation Training.
