Dominion advocates for federal funding

Representatives from Dominion Energy and community partners traveled to Washington to meet with elected officials and advocate for continued federal funding of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which provides critical financial support to eligible households for energy costs.

The meetings were held in conjunction with LIHEAP Action Day, hosted annually by the National Energy & Utility Affordability Coalition. The event brings together utilities and human service organizations to highlight programs that help income-eligible households manage energy expenses, particularly during times of crisis.

“We recognize that energy costs can place a real strain on many households, especially during cold winters like we’ve experienced this year,” said Kaytee Watson, manager of customer assistance at Dominion Energy South Carolina. “We want our customers to know they don’t have to navigate those challenges alone. Last year, we were able to connect thousands of our customers in South Carolina with a variety of assistance programs like LIHEAP. Continued funding is critical to ensure customers facing financial hardship have access to the assistance they need.”

Customers seeking assistance are encouraged to contact their local community action agency to learn more about LIHEAP eligibility and application requirements. Additional information is available at DominionEnergySC.com/assistance.

Programs highlighted include:

  • EnergyShare: Funded through company contributions as well as donations from customers and employees, the program is administered by the South Carolina Department of Administration Office of Economic Opportunity through community action agencies.

  • Payment plans: Dominion Energy works directly with customers to develop manageable payment solutions, including extensions and long-term plans.

In 2025, more than 71,000 Dominion Energy customers in South Carolina received energy assistance through LIHEAP, EnergyShare and other utility bill assistance programs.
