Gray Collegiate Captures Pair of Region 4-4A Titles

Gray Collegiate Academy celebrated a championship-filled weekend, earning two Region 4-4A titles in girls’ athletics.

The Lady War Eagles volleyball and tennis teams each captured region championships to close out the regular season.

The Lady War Eagles claimed tennis region title.

The volleyball team was set to open the postseason at home on Wednesday, while the tennis team, the top overall seed in the Lower State, was scheduled to begin playoff action Thursday at home against Beaufort.

Other area teams in playoff action include Brookland-Cayce, which hosted Gilbert, and Airport High School, which traveled to face Upper State top seed A.C. Flora.

In golf, Gray Collegiate’s Kylie Smith qualified for the Class 4A individual championship, to be held Monday and Tuesday at Hilton Head Lakes in Hardeeville.
