Poets have always been moved by nature to compose verse; the cherry blossom is a perfect muse, given its beauty and transience.
The Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival invites artists to compose a traditional haiku based upon the cherry blossom: the beauty of the buds, the flowers, the trees, and the new bloom of the sakura.
All haiku will be posted on the ICBF Facebook page using the author’s initials. The winners will be selected by City of Columbia Poet Laureate Jennifer Bartell Boykin.
Haiku may be submitted via [email protected] beginning February 14 until March 1. The winner and honorable mentions will be announced on March 4, 2023; limit one submission per poet, please. The winners will be announced on the ICBF Facebook and other social media platforms.
