The 36th annual 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray is scheduled for June 29, promising to be South Carolina’s largest fireworks show. The spectacular display will begin at dark, around 9:30 pm, with fireworks launched from two locations: Spence and Dreher Island. The show will be synchronized to patriotic music broadcast on 93.1 The Lake.
Public viewing areas for the fireworks include both Lake Murray Public Park sites at the Dam and Dreher Island State Park. The Lake Murray Dam Park sites in Irmo and Lexington will remain open until they reach capacity. However, ongoing construction on the Lake Murray Dam towers will reduce the number of available parking spots on the Lexington side. Dominion Energy has introduced new safety protocols for visitors. Meanwhile, 93.1 The Lake will be at Dreher Island State Park to broadcast the synchronized music and entertain the crowd. Standard fees will apply at park sites, state parks, boat launching sites, and marinas on Lake Murray.
The fireworks display is funded through Capital City/Lake Murray Country’s fundraising efforts at the annual Taste of Lake Murray, private donations, and sponsor support. Donations are accepted year-round at the Visitor’s Center (2184 North Lake Drive, Columbia) or online at LakeMurrayCountry.com/donate.
In the event of thunder and lightning causing a postponement, the fireworks will be rescheduled for June 30. For more information about the 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray, including parking details, visit LakeMurrayFireworks.com.
Please note, the Annual Patriotic Boat Parade on Lake Murray will not take place this year due to construction at the dam.
