All four Cayce/West Columbia teams enter Week Two seeking its first wins of the season.
Brookland-Cayce was the final one to play its season-opener. On Friday, the Bearcats played host to River Bluff in the first of two straight games against Region 4-5A teams.
Avery King rushed for 106 yards and My’son Jones had five receptions for 82 yards. However, the Bearcats were held scoreless in the 23-0 loss to the Gators.
Up next is a visit to the Wolves Den to face White Knoll, which defeated Sumter 26-8 for its first victory of the season.
Meanwhile, archrival Airport fell to 0-2 on the season. It was also shut out, but on the road and by Region 4-4A rival Aiken in a 44-0 defeat.
This was the eighth straight loss dating back to last season for the Eagles.
After an early bye, Gray Collegiate also heads on the road this Friday. They look to rebound from a 24-8 loss at James Island against undefeated Marlboro County.
In SCISA, Northside Christian Academy is idle this week. It’s off to an 0-3 start and have been outscored 118-18 in losses to Greenwood Christian, Calhoun Academy and Wilson Hall
