Lake Murray to Host Spectacular Independence Day Celebration and Spirit of Americana Weekend (Page 37)

Lake Murray, SC — Get ready for a patriotic weekend like no other! Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration 2025 will light up the sky on Saturday, June 28, with its iconic fireworks display launched from Spence and Dreher Islands. The show begins at dark (around 9:15 PM) and is synchronized to patriotic music broadcast on 93.1 The Lake. You can also watch it live online at WIStv.com and catch a full televised replay on WIS News 10 during primetime on July 4th.

Each year, thousands take to the water to celebrate the red, white, and blue under the stars. Pro tip: the best view is by boat, but land-based viewers can enjoy the show from Dreher Island State Park, where Big Boys BBQ will be serving up delicious meals for both lunch and dinner.

This community-loved celebration is made possible through proceeds from the Taste of Lake Murray, the sole fundraiser for the event. The 2025 fundraiser, presented by Lexington Medical Center, was held on March 27 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Columbia. Organizers extend their heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors, attendees, and volunteers who made it a success!

Want to help light up the sky?
You can still contribute to this cherished event through the "Adopt a Firework" program on the Lake Murray Country website or in person at the Lake Murray Country Visitors Center, 2184 North Lake Drive, Columbia, SC. For more info, call 803-781-5940 or 1-866-SC-JEWEL.

Spirit of Americana Weekend: June 28–29, 2025

The fireworks aren’t the only attraction! This year’s celebration is part of the Spirit of Americana Weekend, which also includes the Grand Finish of the 2025 Great Race on Sunday, June 29 at Moore Park in Irmo.

Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss this free event, where over 100 vintage vehicles will cross the finish line of America’s most prestigious vintage automobile rally, concluding their journey from Minnesota. You'll see century-old classics, muscle cars, hot rods, and high-end sports cars, and have a chance to meet the drivers, explore the vehicles, and celebrate the crowning of the 2025 Great Race Grand Champion.

So, mark your calendars for an unforgettable weekend filled with fireworks, family fun, vintage cars, and pure American spirit—only at Lake Murray!
