LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the man recovered from Lake Murray near the Irmo side of the dam on September 13 as Darius Marshe Dendy, 34, of Columbia. Dendy was pronounced dead at the scene following the recovery of his body from the lake.
Investigators revealed that Dendy was involved in a collision on September 11. His vehicle, a 2022 Dodge Charger, was located and pulled from Lake Murray shortly after his body was recovered.
The incident is under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Earlier, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department discovered a body floating near the Lake Murray Dam around 9:30 a.m. on Friday. A few hours later, the dive team retrieved a car from the water. The investigation was transferred to the South Carolina Highway Patrol later that day.
