Chris Potter to Perform June 15 at Harbison Theatre (Page 97)

Columbia, SC – Renowned saxophonist and Columbia native Chris Potter will grace the stage at Harbison Theatre on June 15 at 7:30 PM. He will be performing with the SC Jazz Masterworks Ensemble for their season finale concert, promising an unforgettable evening of jazz.

Chris Potter, who began his career 30 years ago as a sideman with Red Rodney, has since collaborated with legendary artists like Pat Metheny and Steely Dan. His remarkable talent has earned him recognition from major jazz publications, with DownBeat magazine describing him as “one of the most studied (and copied) saxophonists on the planet,” and JazzTimes calling him “a figure of international renown.”

Robert Gardiner, founder and director of SC Jazz Masterworks, expressed his excitement for the upcoming concert: “Chris Potter is one of a kind; possibly the best jazz saxophonist on the planet today. This season’s finale concert will certainly be one of the best.”

Potter's impressive discography includes 18 albums as a bandleader and contributions to over 100 albums as a sideman, solidifying his status as a leading figure in the jazz world.
