COLUMBIA — The South Carolina Philharmonic has appointed Carol Addy and Hassan Anderson to its Board of Directors, adding two community leaders with strong ties to music, education and civic engagement.
Addy is chief revenue officer for Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union, a longtime supporter of the South Carolina Philharmonic and a key partner in its education programming, which brings live music experiences to students across the region.
“I am thrilled to be participating with the SC Philharmonic,” Addy said. “Music has been a large part of my life, and I welcome the opportunity to help share that joy with others.”
Addy also serves on the South Carolina Board of Financial Institutions, having been appointed by Gov. Henry McMaster and confirmed by the state Senate.
Anderson is an accomplished oboist, conductor and teaching artist. He toured nationally from 2011–18 with the New York-based chamber ensemble SHUFFLE Concert and was named Yale School of Music’s Distinguished Teaching Artist of the Year in 2019. His performance credits include the New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and American Ballet Theatre.
Anderson currently serves as assistant professor of oboe and coordinator of teaching artistry at the University of South Carolina, where he trains future musicians and arts leaders. He is also co-artistic director of the East Coast Contemporary Ensemble.
“I’m honored to join the board of the South Carolina Philharmonic and to serve this community,” Anderson said. “Music has shaped my life, and I look forward to supporting an organization that brings that same inspiration to others.”
The South Carolina Philharmonic is dedicated to performing live symphonic music and providing educational opportunities throughout the Midlands.
