Town of Lexington police arrested Keith Dwayne Miles, 57, following a barricaded standoff on September 22 in the 100 block of Palm Court. Officers responded to a call involving the kidnapping of a woman who had been held against her will and assaulted for several hours. The victim managed to escape and notify authorities.
When officers attempted to contact Miles around 7 p.m., he refused to cooperate, leading to the activation of the Emergency Services Team (EST) and Crisis Negotiations Unit. After negotiations failed, EST successfully extracted Miles without further incident.
Miles was taken to Lexington Medical Center for treatment and evaluation. He faces charges of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and Kidnapping. Upon release from the hospital, Miles will be transported to Lexington County Detention Center, where he will await bond court.
