A Cayce/West Columbia team entered the win column for the first time this season.

Gray Collegiate defeated Marlboro County 27-14. It was the “breakout” game for Gilbert transfer Trevon Williamson as he rushed for three touchdowns.

The War Eagles (1-1) face a tall order Friday at home. They play host to defending Class 5A Division I champion Dutch Fork (2-0) which currently the S.C. High School League’s longest active winning streak at 24 games.

While Gray Collegiate looks to pull off the upset, its neighbors look to get their first wins of the season.

Brookland-Cayce will play its final warmup game before starting Region 4-4A play at home against May River. The Bearcats are coming off back-to-back losses against Region 4-5A foes River Bluff and White Knoll (49-13).

Meanwhile, Airport heads to the Northeast area to face Westwood. The Eagles look to snap a 9-game losing streak dating back to last season and have played 10 consecutive scoreless quarters on offense.

They are coming off a 40-0 shutout at Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

Northside Christian Academy is also on the road against Andrew Jackson Academy. The Crusaders are seeking their first win since last year’s SCISA Class 3A playoff opening round.
