Community and business leaders gathered Dec. 2 to honor retiring Lexington Health CEO Tod Augsburger and welcome incoming CEO Kirk Jenkins during a special appreciation event in the courtyard of Savage Craft Ale Works in West Columbia.
Several Midlands chambers of commerce brought together members of the Lexington Health Board of Directors, business leaders and elected officials to celebrate Lexington Medical Center’s leadership and Augsburger’s years of service.

The event was led by Tim James, president of the Greater Cayce–West Columbia Chamber of Commerce and a longtime friend of Augsburger. Guest speakers included Rev. Dr. Charles Jackson, retired Sen. Nikki Setzler, and LMC Board Chair Randy Senn, along with a special presentation by Sen. Russell Ott and Rep. Micah Caskey.
Augsburger, joined by his wife, daughter and son-in-law, shared reflections and expressed gratitude to the staff and leadership who supported him throughout his tenure. He also recognized his predecessor, Michael J. Biediger, who was in attendance.
Incoming CEO Kirk Jenkins thanked the community for its trust and shared his vision for the future of Lexington Health.
Board members highlighted the hospital system’s growth and accomplishments under Augsburger’s leadership. James noted, “Our community has been — and continues to be — very fortunate to have excellent health care leadership, men who truly care and support one another.” He also recognized the three CEOs who have guided Lexington Medical Center through nearly five decades of service.
The event emphasized the longstanding partnership between Lexington Health and the Midlands business community and served as a tribute to the organization’s leadership and commitment to quality care.
