During the April 9 meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the hire of Lakisha H. Cook to the position of assistant principal at White Knoll Middle.
Cook comes to the district from Richland School District Two, where she served as assistant principal at Muller Road Middle since 2015. The South Carolina Association of School Administrators named her 2019 South Carolina Middle Level Assistant Principal of the Year.
Cook began her educational career as an Honors Biology teacher and AVID elective coordinator at Blythewood High School in 2007. Continuing to teach biology and coordinate AVID activities, Cook moved to Westwood High School in 2012, before her promotion to assistant administrator in 2013.
Currently working on her doctorate of education in curriculum and instruction at the University of South Carolina, Cook received a Bachelor of Arts in professional counseling from South University and a Master of Arts in education administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix.
Cook is an active member of the Association for Middle Level Education, National Association of Secondary School Principals and South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
