There was a fire at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, on B Avenue in West Columbia, Friday afternoon. No one was injured.
Mt. Tabor Pastor Wade Roof recorded a video for Facebook and posted it Friday afternoon.
“We got a call today that there was a fire in our assembly room,” he said. “The fire was contained to the assembly room of the church. Everybody is OK.”
Roof said there were people in the church when the fire broke out, but they got out. He also said the church’s ice making machine is in the Assembly Room.
He asked that everyone hold their phone calls and he would update everyone on the status of the church when he could.
West Columbia Councilman David Moye ( a Mt. Tabor member) provided a photo of the fire.
