Still Standing set for October 7

Still Standing, a women’s health empowerment luncheon, will be held at 11 am October 7 at the Capital City Club in Columbia.

The event brings awareness to health and societal issues that negatively affect women. This year’s focus is depression and anxiety among African-American women. The keynote speaker and special guest will be Jada Samuel, Miss South Carolina 2023.

The luncheon will also include a panel of mental health professionals. Panelists include:
Dr. Raynia McGee, Psychiatrist; First Presbyterian Christian Counseling Center
Rev. Olivia Tate, Minister and Licensed Professional Counselor; Flowing Well Therapy Center
Ashley Young, Licensed Professional Counselor; Everyday Wellness

Tickets are $50 and can be bought at stillstanding2023.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to Girl, Get Up Society, a non-profit organization that helps women and teen girls facing mental health challenges in coping with life’s problems and emotional upsets support groups.

The luncheon concludes with the anticipation of the “Shoe Strut” competition, which encourages women to “stand taller, feel stronger, and walk longer.” The Ivy Heritage Foundation of Irmo, Inc. Will host the event.
