The race for first place in South Carolina American Legion League Three remains tight entering the final two weeks of the regular season.
Both Lexington Post 7 (8-3) and West Columbia Post 79 (7-3) found themselves on Monday within a game of frontrunner Richland Post 215.

West Columbia closed the gap with a 4-0 win over Richland at Brookland-Cayce High School. The Airport state championship duo of Landon Jeffcoat and Hunter Epps accounted for three RBI off back-to-back doubles in the third inning.
It was more than enough for starter Bryson Steele. He struck out 12 batters and allowed just three hits in 5 1/3 innings before Epps finished with three strikeouts.
The two teams faced each other Wednesday and Thursday. This will close out the league schedule for West Columbia, while Post 15 (6-2) has two games against Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24 on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Lexington Post 7 (8-3) still has to complete a road game at Winnsboro Post 16.
