Local stars shine at Palmetto I-20 Classic

Another All-Star Game which took place Dec. 8 was the third annual Palmetto I-20 Classic at Zemp Stadium in Camden.

Team Savage came away with the 34-24 victory over Team Nasty. Both quarterbacks Breylon Boyd of Ridge View and Harrison Collins of Blythewood threw touchdown passes to Fairfield Central’s Kristian Golden.

Lexington quarterback Taiden Mines was named Offensive Player of the Game for Team Nasty. He finished with 133 total yards and two touchdowns.

Gray Collegiate wide receiver Jamarious Lockett won the Offensive Effort and Attitude Award for Team Nasty. He had 118 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lexington linebacker Dylan Bolin won the honor for defense with four tackles.

Shrine Bowl

Up next at 1 p.m. Saturday is the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas at Viking Stadium in Spartanburg.

Among the selected seniors from the Lake Murray area are quarterback Will Young (Brookland-Cayce), linebackers Caleb Strese (Gilbert) and Jaiden Kimble (White Knoll) and defensive lineman Tyler Jones (Dutch Fork).

Tight end Hasan Lee was selected to the Shrine Bowl but is unable to play after suffering a season-ending injury.
