New restaurant set to open

Columbia chef and restaurateur Kristian Niemi has announced plans to open a rooftop restaurant and bar atop the Brookland development overlooking the Congaree River.

“When I saw the space, I immediately knew the Black Rooster had found its spot,” Niemi said. “I’ve been craving a French place for years. Like all my other places, this is another selfish endeavor I hope everyone loves, too.”

Black Rooster will be a French-inspired restaurant for Niemi and will inspired by French brasseries and bistros. It will feature open, high ceilings and will overlook the river with views of downtown Columbia, including the setting sun. The restaurant is located at 201 Meeting Street, West Columbia.
