Program seeks community advocates for abused and neglected children.
The Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem Program is seeking volunteers to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, with its next online training session beginning July 21.
Guardian ad Litem volunteers serve as advocates for children’s best interests in Family Court, working to help ensure their safety, stability and permanent placement.
The free training will be held virtually, with both morning and evening sessions available. The application deadline is July 7.
Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, pass a background check and have no prior history with the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
Training sessions are offered every four weeks for those unable to participate in the July class.
