Wildlife-Themed Conservation Dinner Set for July 17 (Page 32)

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Wildlife Federation (SCWF) invites nature lovers and food enthusiasts to a unique dining experience on Wednesday, July 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Hollow in Columbia.

The evening will feature a five-course, wine-paired conservation dinner inspired by imperiled bird species. Each dish is crafted by Executive Chef Danté Serra, with courses themed after birds such as the cerulean warbler, American redstart, golden-crowned kinglet, belted kingfisher, Canada warbler, and the roseate spoonbill, the namesake of the dinner series.

Throughout the night, SCWF Industry Habitat Manager Jay Keck will present insights about each bird, sharing the conservation challenges they face and how the public can help protect them.

Tickets are $125 per person, with vegan and vegetarian options available. Sales close on July 10, and proceeds will support SCWF’s statewide education and conservation programs.

To purchase tickets or become a sponsor, visit scwf.org/events.

Event sponsors include Columbia Water (presenting sponsor), National Land Realty/Jim Taylor, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, and Friends of SCWF: Jon Boguski and Jess Holm.

Menu Preview:

  • First Course – Berry Salad (Inspired by the American Redstart)

  • Second Course – Seafood Arancini with Crab, Crawfish & Prawn (Roseate Spoonbill)

  • Third Course – Scallop Crudo (Belted Kingfisher)

  • Fourth Course – Sliced Venison & Tri-Colored Cauliflower (Canada Warbler)

  • Fifth Course – Blue Marble Cheesecake (Cerulean Warbler)

Founded in 1931, the South Carolina Wildlife Federation is the state’s oldest conservation organization. As an affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, SCWF works to conserve and restore South Carolina’s wildlife and habitats through science-based education and advocacy.
