Airport holds second annual "Moms Football Clinic" (Page 90)

“There is no doubt that people in our community love their Eagles!”

Those were Airport head football coach/athletics director Shane Fidler’s words following the July 16 “Moms Football Clinic”. It was the second of three events held at Eagle Stadium.

The other free summer football clinic was held July 13. The “Friday Night Lights Youth Camp”, combined with the “Moms Football Clinic”, drew more than 200 participants from the West Columbia area.

Youth camp participants ages 5-12 learned football skills on the field and got lessons in conditioning and weightlifting. Participants in the Moms Football Clinic did workouts in the weight room, watched game film and plays, suited up in pads and gear, and then held a short scrimmage in the stadium.

The second annual clinics have quickly become community favorites.

“Our Airport football program loves hosting our Friday Night Lights Youth Camp and our Moms’ Clinic,” Fidler said.  “We want to connect our program to the current and future stakeholders of it. Building that trust and comfort with our community is of utmost importance, as we are tasked with the role of developing young men into future leaders.”
