Capital City/Lake Murray Country Honors Senators Setzler and Shealy for Dedication to Regional Tourism (Page 59)

LAKE MURRAY, S.C. — The Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board (CCLMC) recognized Senators Nikki Setzler and Katrina Shealy for their outstanding contributions to regional tourism and economic development during a Board of Directors meeting on January 29, 2025, at the Lake Murray Country Visitors Center.

Senator Nikki Setzler, the longest-serving state senator in South Carolina history, was honored for his 48 years of service to Lexington County. His leadership, particularly as a member of the Senate Finance Committee, has been instrumental in elevating CCLMC’s tourism initiatives, fostering economic growth, and increasing the organization’s recognition among state leaders.

Senator Katrina Shealy, serving for 12 years, was also recognized for her dedication and support of CCLMC’s efforts. Her advocacy has played a vital role in promoting tourism and economic development, ensuring the success of CCLMC’s events and marketing campaigns.

As a token of appreciation, both Senators received a painting titled “Purple Martin Majesty” by artist Kelly Pelfrey from the CCLMC Board of Directors.

"Senators Setzler and Shealy have been steadfast supporters of our mission, and we are incredibly grateful for their contributions to regional tourism," said Miriam Atria, President and CEO of CCLMC. "Their efforts have strengthened our region’s visibility and helped ensure that tourism continues to drive economic prosperity in South Carolina."
